These terms govern your use of mConnected. By creating an account you agree to them. Please read the section on our role and responsibilities carefully — it explains what we are and are not responsible for.
Our role
mConnected is a marketplace. We connect customers who need services with independent providers who offer them. We are not a party to the agreement between a customer and a provider.
We do not employ service providers, we do not perform the services listed, and we do not supervise how work is carried out. We verify identity and moderate the platform; we do not guarantee the outcome of any individual job.
Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract
- You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account
- One account per person or business, unless we agree otherwise in writing
- Service providers must hold any licences, permits or insurance the law requires for the work they offer
Wallet and profile unlocks
Customers may add funds to a prepaid wallet. Funds are used to unlock provider profiles and to pay for services.
Unlocking a profile reveals that provider's contact details to you. The fee is charged at the point of unlock and is shown before you confirm. Because access is granted immediately and cannot be withdrawn once given, unlock fees are not ordinarily refundable, except where the profile was materially misdescribed or the provider is found not to be genuine.
An unlock is an introduction, not a licence to take an introduced job off the platform to avoid the fee. For what that means and what happens, see “Keeping bookings on mConnected” below.
Wallet balances are not interest-bearing and are not a deposit or banking product.
Rules of use
- Do not provide false or misleading information, or impersonate anyone
- Do not use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against another user
- Do not post fake or incentivised reviews
- Do not scrape, copy or harvest data from the platform
- Do not arrange or pay for an introduced booking outside the platform to avoid the fee — see “Keeping bookings on mConnected” below for what this means and what happens
Keeping bookings on mConnected
mConnected earns from introducing customers and providers to each other. When a booking made here is taken off the platform to avoid the fee, the platform loses the payment it exists on — and both people lose the payment protection, the attendance record and the dispute cover that come with booking here.
This applies to a booking introduced through mConnected. It does not stop you working with someone you already knew, and it does not stop you exchanging the details you need to do the job — an address, a gate code, a phone number for the day itself. What it covers is arranging and paying for introduced work outside the platform.
- Customers: a penalty of between ₦100 and ₦1,000, and suspension of the account for six months
- Providers: a penalty of between ₦100 and ₦1,000, taken from the commitment deposit, and suspension from the platform for one year
- A penalty and a suspension are decided by a member of staff who has looked at the evidence, never automatically
- You will be told what was decided and what it was based on, and you can reply to that message to have a person review it
Payments to providers
Where funds are collected through the platform, they are held until the service is confirmed as complete, then released to the provider less the platform fee and any deductions required by law.
Deductions are itemised on every payout statement.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, raise a dispute through the platform. Where funds are still held, they are frozen while the dispute is reviewed.
We will review the evidence both sides provide and reach a decision in good faith. We are not a court and cannot compel either party, but where we hold funds we can direct them.
Our responsibilities and limits
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of any user, for the quality or safety of services arranged through the platform, or for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
The platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it.
Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, or that puts other users at risk.
On closure, any remaining wallet balance is returned to you, less any amount properly owed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Nigerian courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
